The story of a man and his passion for antique furniture

Passion for Vintage Furniture

In fact, even if he was not a craftsman, he already loved all the vintage furniture, be it chair, sofa, armchair, , Coffee table, dining table, office armchair. But nevertheless, he preferred the old leather club chair. This patina of old leather! How beautiful ! In addition, the club chairs have different backrest shapes and armrests of armrests. The names of these different shapes are also fascinating: back mustache, folder hat of gendarme, straight back, file folder, round file .... All this fascinated him to the highest point. Later, when Thierry Perrodou grew up, he settled as a craftsman with his wife in Callac de Bretagne, in the center of Brittany , In the Côtes d'Armor, where he opened his dream workshop: Atelier du cuir - Bretagne. In this leather workshop - Brittany, he now undertakes work based on his enormous craftsmanship, renovation work and restoration of antique and vintage furniture. His violin of Ingres, his specialty was the restoration and the whole renovation of club armchairs and club sofas.

The development of craftsmanship

After the first successful first renovation, Thierry Perrodou started his second club chair. This one was a club chair with gendarme hat. It was an old vintage seat, the armchair was dating back to the 1930s. At first glance, this poor chair did not look as he had managed to find in a barn watch, completely covered with dust and straw. There was even a nest of pigeons on the seat! The leather of this poor club chair with a gendarme hat was extremely damaged. The artisan Thierry Perrodou had to remake this armchair club entirely. The renovation took him very long. He had to tighten no-sag straps and springs. Then he made padding armrests and armrests with vegetable hair. The padding of the cushion, which he had to make in new leather, was partly made of feathers. Then he skated the old-fashioned leather, of a beautiful brown cognac color. The club chair with gendarme hat was completely restored.
